Adventure Aquarium in Camden

The Adventure Aquarium, originally the New Jersey State Aquarium, is a for-profit educational entertainment facility run by the Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation in Camden, New Jersey, on the Delaware River Camden Waterfront. It first opened in 1992, then on May 25, 2005, it reopened in its present form, with around 8,000 creatures living in a variety of semi-aquatic, freshwater, and marine environments. The facility has a total tank volume of over 2 million US gallons and 200,000 square feet of public floor area.

 

Battleship New Jersey

The battleship USS New Jersey (BB-62) is the second ship in the United States Navy to be named after the state of New Jersey. She was affectionately known as "Big J." During the Vietnam War, the US battleship New Jersey received more battle stars for combat activities than the other three completed Iowa-class battleships, and it was the sole US battleship providing gunfire support. New Jersey bombarded targets on Guam and Okinawa during World War II, and screened aircraft ships conducting attacks in the Marshall Islands. She was part in raids up and down the North Korean coast during the Korean War, following which she was decommissioned and sent to the United States Navy reserve fleets, sometimes known as the "mothball fleet." This New Jersey memorial is regularly voted as one of the best museums in the state and oneof the best things to do in the Philadelphia area. Visitors can learn about naval history through guided and self-guided tours. 

Sahara Sam's Water Park in Berlin Township

During the spring and summer, visitors can enjoy this indoor and outdoor water park that boasts slides, lazy rivers, pools, surf simulators and more. During the colder months, the temperature controlled indoor attractions are still open and available to visitors looking for a break from the cold. With attractions for all ages and plenty of options for food and drink, Sahara Sam's is a fun sober activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family. 

Clementon Park & Splash World

Following a 2 year closure, this amusement park in Clementon, NJ reopened in 2021. The park offers a combination of water park rides and slides, children's rides, family rides, thrill rides, and roller coasters. Other family-friendly attractions include clowns, face painters, jugglers, and more. It is also known as Clementon Lake Park and is one of just thirteen remaining trolley parks in the United States.

Hiking & Camping the Appalachian Trail

The NJ section of the Appalchian Trail can be accessed through Abram S. Hewett State Forest Park, which offers diifficult climbs and spectatcular views. Abram S. Hewitt State Forest is known for its rocky outcroppings and upland wetlands. Hikers may ascend a stretch of the glacially sculpted Bearfort Ridge into the forest for a hard trek with a great vista eastward along Greenwood Lake. The woodland is remote and undeveloped, with only foot access. The forest is dotted with marshes and wetlands, with various brooks and streams crisscrossing the lower portions. The primary species in this relatively untouched woodland are hemlock and oak. This unspoiled woodland is traversed by a 6-mile segment of the Appalachian Trail.
